Rational Opens Large Distribution Facility Near L.A.

Rational has opened a new 150,000-sq. ft. distribution facility in Commerce, Calif. just outside Los Angeles, which the company says will further expand its warehousing and logistics capabilities in on the West Coast.

The warehouse is managed by a third-party logistics provider. It began shipping products to customers on October 1.

It stores many popular quick-ship products including standard configuration Rational combi ovens, accessories and cleaning supplies, the company said.

It also touts the warehouse’s location near the Port of Los Angeles, which Rational says will allow items to be received and shipped out quickly. It claims the new location has created the ability for it to reach 92 percent of its customers near the West Coast within two days, and many within one day.

Earlier this year, the company added 21,000 square feet to its primary North American distribution center near Chicago, which serves as its North American supply chain hub. The 80,000 square foot facility warehouses the full line of Rational combi ovens, service parts, accessories, cleaning supplies and consumable products.

“We remain optimistic about our future growth trajectory and continue to invest in the business to enhance the level service we provide customers,” said Markus Glueck, executive vice president, Rational North America. “As the number of Rational customers in the west continues to grow, so too has our warehousing and distribution infrastructure, so that we now are able to deliver many products in just one or two days.”
