Food Safety Program Gets ANSI’s OK

The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals’ food-safety manager certification program has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute. The certification is based on the ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 standard for conformity-general requirements for bodies operating certification of persons. The NRFSP’s program is the first one accredited by ANSI.

The ISO/IEC standard is regarded as the global standard for organizations operating certification programs and providing assurance that the certified body meets the requirements of the certification. NRFSP has added the more rigorous accreditation to support, among others, multinational food organizations seeking a food-manager certification that has multi-jurisdictional acceptance.

Orlando, Fla.-based NRFSP also collaborates with the British-based Chartered Institute of Environmental Health to further expand its reach into the global food safety network.
