Starbucks Inks Deal With Mickey Mouse

Starbucks will open new outposts on domestic soil—in the wonderful world of Disney. Starbucks and Walt Disney Co. have signed an agreement to open a store inside each of the six Disney properties in California and Florida. The first will open this summer at Disneyland California Adventure in Anaheim. Other cafes are planned for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort, including locations at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The Seattle chain opened a store in Disney Village at Disneyland Paris in June 2009, but the U.S. units will mark the first time Starbucks will have a presence inside the domestic theme parks.

Passersby might have to look twice to notice that it’s a Starbucks. The companies said each of the Starbucks stores at Disney will be designed to blend in with the property and sport a theme name. The California Adventure store on Buena Vista Street, for example, will be named The Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Cafe, after characters in the Three Little Pigs. No Starbucks logo will be posted outside, but the chain’s name will be visible on posts by the entryway. Even the cups will be co-branded.
