In Memoriam: Bill Spake, Longtime Comstock-Castle President

William T. Spake, 85, who helmed Comstock-Castle Stove Co. for three decades, died Oct. 17 at his Quincy, Ill., home overlooking his family’s seven-generation company.

Spake was president of the Quincy, Ill., cooking equipment manufacturer from 1966-98 and remained active as CEO, corporate secretary, and with inventory control until 2010. He traveled extensively and enjoyed meeting directly with the foodservice equipment dealer community. He was active as a charter member of NAFEM and early NAFEM committees.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joanne; and sons John, Tim and Curtis. All are all active in the family business. Condolences can be sent to the Spake Family c/o Comstock-Castle Stove Co., 119 W. Washington St., Quincy, IL 62301.
