- Jerry and Anne Menter, owners of Hollowick Inc. have been named to the Manufacturers Association of Central New York Wall of Fame. The nearly 44-year-old Manlius, N.Y., maker of tabletop lighting and fuel products also has honored Metro, N.Y.-based Gotham City Hospitality as its Rep of the Year.
- Michael Nolan has been named executive v.p./chief development officer at Corner Bakery Cafe. Nolan has more than 25 years of leadership experience; he was most recently was senior v.p./ chief development officer-worldwide at Bloomin’ Brands. Prior to that, Nolan spent more than a decade at as an executive at Panera Bread Co., where he served as senior v.p., chief development officer and managing director for Canada.

Famous Dave’s of America has officially named Ed Rensi CEO, following his three-month stint as interim CEO of the Minnetonka, Minn., chain. The former CEO of McDonald’s recently founded the five-unit better-burger chain Tom & Eddie’s. Famous Dave’s owns 53 locations and franchises 141 units in 34 states, Puerto Rico and Canada.
- Krispy Kreme Doughnuts has named Tony Thompson as president and CEO. Thompson had been president and COO of Papa John’s Int’l. since last year. He succeeds James Morgan, who will continue as executive chairman of the Winston-Salem, N.C.-based chain.
- Brian Truesdale has been appointed sector president for Marmon Foodservice Technologies. He is based in the company’s Prince Castle facility in Carol Stream, Ill. He’ll oversee ITW FEG veteran Cary Moreth in his new role as v.p.-global accounts for the Prince Castle and Silver King equipment brands. Also promoted is Prince Castle veteran Alan Duncan, to president-key accounts at Cornelius North America. MFT is a Marmon Group/Berkshire Hathaway company.
- Smashburger has promoted David Biederman to the position of chief development officer, overseeing IT, purchasing and real estate, in addition to his previous responsibilities leading construction and development. The Denver chain also has entered into franchise agreements for 61 new restaurants, bringing Smashburger’s total active franchise pipeline to approximately 461 restaurants set to open over the next several years. The chain currently has more than 272 stores in 30 states and four countries.
- Brian Niccol has been named as the new CEO at 6,000-unit Taco Bell effective Jan. 1, 2015. Niccol, who currently serves as president-Taco Bell U.S., will assume the title when current Taco Bell CEO Greg Creed becomes CEO of Yum! Brands on the same date.
