New Owners For Interior Systems

Milwaukee-based Interior Systems Inc. has been acquired by Elkay Mfg. The deal between the two family-owned companies was official January 20.

Interior Systems designs, manufactures and installs branded atmospheres for schools, retail outlets and QSRs, where it does a complete buildout of the décor, cabinetry, upholstery, fiberglass and other elements of the brand environment.

It has been a vendor partner with Elkay’s Quetzal business in Mexico for more than a decade, and is expected to complement Elkay’s business operations. While Interior Systems does front of the house design, Elkay’s commercial business does back of the house design, build and source for behind the counter and food preparation structures. Family-owned since 1920, Oak Brook, Ill.-based Elkay manufactures sinks, faucets, foodservice fixtures, water coolers, drinking fountains and bottle filling stations. Elkay Wood Products produces cabinetry under more than half a dozen brands.

The company will now be known as Elkay Interior Systems Inc., but will continue doing business as Interior Systems Inc. It will be integrated with Elkay’s commercial industrial division, and led by Chris Gast, vice president and general manager for the division. Elkay plans to retain Interior Systems’ facilities and its approximately 200 employees in the integration.
