ANFP Gathers For Annual Meeting

More than 500 attendees were in Las Vegas June 6-9 for the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals’ Annual Conference & Expo.

In addition to networking and displays from more than 50 exhibitors, "Viva la Foodservice! Achieving Stellar Outcomes" offered education sessions covering topics such as kitchen design, mentorship, regulations, surveys and risk factors, global cuisine, food allergies, and other CDM practice areas.

Among those lauded at the meeting’s Honors Gala was Dick Hynes, Director Emeritus of Consultant Services with Hobart Corp.’s management team, and long-time ANFP member. Hynes, honored with the Distinguished Service Award, serves as president of the Hennessy Travelers Association, working with the Air Force, Marine Corps and Navy to help improve their foodservice programs. He also serves on ANFP’s Industry Advisory Council and Editorial Advisory Board. A full list of honorees is at ANFPonline.org.

ANFP also installed its 2017-18 board of directors, who also sit on the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers. Ken Hanson, CPM, CDM, CFPP, Jail Services Supervisor at the Polk County (Iowa) Sheriff's Office, is the new Chair; Sharon Vermeer, CDM, CFPP, Food Services Manager for Orange City (Iowa) Area Health System is this year’s chair-elect.

Three new Directors at Large—Jeremy Manners, CDM, CFPP, FMP; Marjorie Smith, CDM, CFPP; and Dana Fillmore, RD, CP-FS, Gordon Food Service (Corporate Partner)—join eight others continuing their terms.

The Nutrition & Foodservice Education Foundation, the philanthropic arm of ANFP, has named Mary Hanna Schupp, BS, CDM, CFPP, as the new Chair. She helms a newly named board of directors.

Next year's Annual Conference & Expo will be held June 1-4 at the Renaissance SeaWorld in Orlando, Fla.
