Crazy to think how quickly the first half of 2023 has gone by. It’s been a busy one for sure. We had The NAFEM Show, then FER’s annual Multiunit Foodservice Equipment Symposium (MUFES), followed by the National Restaurant Association Show. The crowds have been strong, and operators clearly appear to be focused on growing their footprints. What continues to impress me most is the new, talented hires being brought into our industry. Equally as impressive is how industry veterans have taken them under their wings to help ensure a smooth transition and a successful career. No better an example exists than that of the new Women Industry Leaders (WIL) group, who recently held their inaugural meeting at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago. Their board, consisting of Jennifer Ward of Atosa USA (founder of the group), Rachael Weaver of SEFA, Marcy Matthews of Delfield and Cara Schlarb of PRIDE Centric Resources, features a group of industry heavyweights clearly enthusiastic about introducing our industry to the next generation.

Let’s continue to celebrate our industry, our people and our successes. And as the song continues, “Summer’s here and the time is right for dancing in the street!” Enjoy it!
